RUCK Orthotic Shaping and Hardening Compound, Soft, 2 x 250 g

A versatile orthotic compound, suitable for a full orthosis or as a soft inner lining. This is a two-component orthotic compound with exceptionally high elasticity, which, after hardening, is extremely tear-resistant, durably elastic, and easy to process even with carrier materials such as rings and foam materials.

The compound is distinguished by its moisturizing properties, practically causes no irritation as it does not contain zinc oxides, and is suitable for making various orthotic shapes. All hardness levels can be combined with each other.

Hardness after 24 hours: 16 (+/-4)

Preparation steps

1. First, take equal amounts of the shaping and stabilizing compound using the same included spoon.

2. Press the compound flat, fold it together, and firmly roll it between your palms.

3. Important: Knead the compound quickly 10–15 times until it achieves a uniform color.

4. Form a ball from the material and attach it to the designated foot area, carefully shaping the required form.

5. Allow the compound to harden and stabilize for 8–10 minutes, then remove it for final processing.

The orthosis is then ready for its first trial use. Corrections can be made by trimming the edges with scissors or by using grinding machines (e.g., with diamond tips) to achieve a smooth surface.

The orthosis can also be enlarged or repaired by sanding and degreasing the attachment area, then adding new material.

After hardening, the orthosis is highly flexible, maintains its surface, is soft yet effective, and does not cause allergies. The compound can be used to create various shapes, such as small and large heel cups, metatarsal pads, and other orthoses.

To achieve different degrees of hardness, the orthotic components can be mixed in a 1:1 ratio (shaping/hardening component). Metatarsal pads and heel cups can be further reinforced with Rinki toe bandages.
