Indications

• Conservative

– Functional therapy of cruciate and lateral ligament injuries
– Severe and/or complex instability
– Unloading the affected part in case of varus or valgus gonarthrosis

• Postoperatively, MOS-Genu (short)

– After ligament surgery/ligamentoplasty
– Meniscus suturing and meniscus implantation

• Postoperatively, MOS-Genu (long)

– After tibial osteotomy
– After complex ligament reconstruction
– In certain cases, when the fracture site is close to the joint, in implant surgery, for protection

Features

• The aluminum frame is anatomically shaped and can be narrowed if necessary.
• The frame construction is available in an extended version, which can be converted to a standard length by removing the extension applicators.
• The applicator pad with a breathable and skin-friendly, non-slip coating is securely attached in place.
• Monocentric joints are oriented at a compromise rotation point according to Nietert and can be adjusted in 10° increments for flexion and extension.
• To compensate for varying degrees of knee swelling, pads of varying thickness are used.
• The hamstring strap (accessory) is used to stabilize posterior instability and Genu recurvatum.

Type of exposure

• Varus/valgus setting allows it to be adjusted to the individual leg axis and
• purposefully relieve some of the knee and lateral ligaments.
• The knee orthosis is based on the commonly used 4-point principle and thus acts in the opposite direction to the anterior displacement of the tibia.
• The frame design stabilizes the knee joint against varus or valgus force, in the extended version with a longer lever.
• The thigh strap relieves the joints of the orthosis, preventing hyperextension.
• The dorsal pressure of the hamstring acts in opposition to the posterior tibial deviation.
• The potential force exerted by the orthosis on the knee joint is minimized because the frame with the monocentric joint can be adjusted.

Sizing:

When determining the size of the MOS-Genu knee orthosis, the leg should be bent at an angle of 30° and the angle of flexion should be checked with the MOS goniometer.
The width of the ML knee joint is measured at the height of the femoral condyle with the MOS-Genu orthometer (without pressure). The size of the orthosis is read in the result window. If the size is shown on the border, the state of swelling or atrophy, as well as the other knee, must also be taken into account.
