ORTHOSIS FOR PASSIVE AND ACTIVE STABILIZATION OF THE KNEE JOINT
Indications
- Anterior and/or posterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear
– Conservative therapy
– Pre-operative and later post-operative care
– Long-term rehabilitation - sports therapy
– Chronic failure
- Severe and/or complex instability (traumatic, degenerative, e.g. damage to multiple knee structures)
- Functional instability, eg neuromuscular control deficits
- Conservative, functional therapy in case of collateral ligament injuries
- Treatment of an unstable knee joint
– Gonarthrosis in a severe degree
– Rheumatoid arthritis – PCP
– Endoprosthetics - secondary rehabilitation
– Traumatology - post-traumatic
- To limit the range of motion in the knee joint (e.g. after meniscal suturing or implantation)
Features
- The large contact area of the knit with the leg prevents local pressure points and thus promotes muscle activity.
- The anatomically designed knit consists of non-elastic parts designed in one direction and zones designed for special stability.
- Four non-elastic velcro straps form a stable, circular closure.
- The aluminum joint splints on the sides are anatomically correct.
- The specially designed orthotic joints are independently adjustable to the rotation points, and thus the position of the individual axis of rotation of the knee joint is respected in three dimensions.
- It is possible to limit the straightening and bending of the joint in intervals of 10°.
- Cushions ensure simple and correct positioning of the orthosis.
Type of exposure
- The durable, non-elastic knit part, together with joint splints and adhesive tapes, stabilizes the knee joint in the form of a 4-point system.
- At the same time, the elastic, tight knit allows the muscles to move.
- The three-dimensional setting of the orthotic joint on the individual axis of rotation helps to prevent the impact of traumatic force on the knee joint.
- The pad supports the correct position of the kneecap and prevents pain in the front of the knee.
- The massage created by the knit compression and padding accelerates the resorption of the accumulated fluid and edema.
- The specially designed knitting, by stimulating proprioceptors, has a positive effect on sensorimotor and thus muscle control.
